Location of the Gardener’s Cottage

The Gardener’s Cottage is located within the MaraPonds Gardens at 1366 Warrentinna Road. There is a network of walking paths to explore the gardens and the State of Rebellion. At night there are stars and other roaming beasties.

The property is located just north of the town of Branxholm on the edge of the Payana State Forest.

Getting There

Flying: Launceston Airport is the nearest destination. Follow the A3 for the quickest route to the Gardener’s Cottage.
If flying into Hobart; there are multiple routes and places to stop and see. The quickest is the via C423 (Campbeltown, Fingal, Ringarooma).

Ferrying: From Devonport the main road (A1) goes to Launceston . The B71 through Exeter provides a more rural alternative route.

Bus: A daily bus runs from Launceston via Scotsdale to Branxholm. If you don’t want to walk from Branxholm, a pick-up can be arranged.

Driving: There are multiple route options with many attractions on the way:

LauncestonThe northern capital of Tasmania with a population of over 100,000, is 94 kilometres to the west.
From Launceston to Scottsdale, there are multiple routes via the A3, Lilydale or Bridport.
ScottsdaleScottsdale is 25 kilometres away. It is the administrative centre of North East Tasmania and the closest major supermarket. From here take the A3 to Branxholm
St Helens St Helens is 85 kilometres away on the East Coast. You can drive to Branxholm via Derby or Ringarooma.
HobartHobart is 270 kilometres away to the south. There are multiple routes. The fastest is through Fingal and Ringarooma, but this involves some gravel road
From Branxholm:

Branxholm is only 3 kilometres from the property.

Turn off the highway onto Warrentinna Road (blue tourist sign to Mara Ponds). Pass the Imperial Hotel and the sawmill, cross the bridge, the road follows the abandoned railway line and turns to gravel. When the road resumes as bitumen you are there!

Follow the driveway. The Cottage is to the left off the turning circle. Parking is at the bird on the fence.

You will be greeted at the main house (2 storey) with keys and information for your stay.

Pickup

Arrangements may be made for pickup/dropoff from Branxholm (Michelle is a fan of responsible drinking) or trailheads for the bicyclists.
